Anyone know anything about salt-water pearls?
My girlfriend has made mention of wanting salt-water pearls (I guess, as opposed to freshwater ones?), and I was hoping to go a little xmas shopping over the weekend. However, after doing a little bit of browsing online, I realize that I HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT PEARLS! I don't know which kind is better, tahitian pearls or akoya pearls or black sea pearls....I'd like to know a little about them all before I go into a jewelry store so they don't take me for a sucker and try and jack up their prices. Any sort of insight would be greatly appreciated!
If it's for your girlfriend then go with Freshwater pearls. They're less expensive. Tahitian and Black Sea Pearls are very pricey. Unless you're loaded then go with Freshwater pearls. There are actually some really nice ones on http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Jewelry/Pearl,/stone,/13/dept.html?TID=JWLSPO2
You can compare prices too!
