Freshwater and Akoya pearls come in smaller sizes as compared to others because these pearls are produced in cold waters.

Colour: - We can categorize pearls into two colors the dark coloured and the light coloured. Light coloured pearls include white, gold and cream or off-white shades and black pearls are known as dark coloured pearls. These dark coloured pearls are considered as the precious than light coloured pearls.

Lustre: - Another main value determining factor in pearls is Lustre that refers to the overall shining of a pearl. For the evaluation of lustre, an individual should see the light reflections on its outer surface.
